Waving silvery-green leaves
Beckoning the wind
And excitedly singing
About the cool ocean breeze.
Dewy in the mist
During any time of day
Always whispering
So softly amongst yourselves
Adorned with small, liquid gems
Simply thinking of
The ever-changing faces
Belonging to
All those hurried passer-byes
Who never return the thought.
Entranced by your grace
Calmed by the clean, scented air
Happy to greet me
Reaching up to introduce
Myself as you reach the sky.
Occasionally
Visiting everyone as
I'm received kindly
Thanked for coming again
In your ever gracious ways.
Dancing in sunlight
As time continued to flow
Quietly watching
Simply existing, by the
Open, green, grassy field.
It has been too long
No more singing or dancing.
Where are the others?
Constantly reminded by
The painful silence here—
I will cry for you,
Only we are left behind
To remember them;
As the bright fragrance grows faint
Only now a memory.
